School Survey Assignment

Jenna and I worked on a survey that was about school. We asked questions such as what were people's learning styles, what their favorite subjects were, and if we should have more time before class, as well as other questions. The goal for our survey was to see how students felt about the schedule for school and how people felt about the subjects. The demographic questions we asked helped us understand who had different preferences and why. It allowed us to look at ways women work vs. men work. If I could change anything about the survey I would ask more questions that went around the school schedule. The girls results and boys results were not very different. They both agreed that school should give us more free time like a longer summer and more time between classes. The question that told me the most were what type of learning styles people had, what peoples favorite subjects are, and if people should be able to leave for lunch. The two questions, what learning style people had and if people should be able to leave for lunch, had results where most of the people chose a single answer. For the learning style they chose visual and for if we should leave for lunch they chose yes. The peoples favorites subjects varied greatly but more people than I thought liked History. The summary I can give about the result is people do want to be at school but just with more freedom. I liked making the survey and seeing the results.

Virtual Sports

Three goals of operating the virtual business was to make a profit, have people aware of the team, and not run into traffic problems or city problems such as traffic jams. Two most difficult tasks were managing the players and managing the parking lots and getting the fans in on time. The easiest aspect when managing the franchise was figuring out licensing and pricing for things.

Chapter 3 Scavenger Hunt

The easiest task was finding the answers to the question. They were easy to find because there were many resources. It was easy to have a partner for this task because you could split up the work and each work on your own. I would not have rather done this alone because it would be a lot of work to do on your own. This is a fair assessment of Chapter 3 because it allowed us to use our research skills to find and confirm the answers to the questions.

NCAA Divisions

We did some research on the NCAA Divisions including the differences, similarities, and their philosophies as well as the importance of amateurism in the NCAA. It is very important for the athletes to maintain amateurism because it allows them to focus on not just sports but also their academics.  Each of the divisions’ philosophies are mostly based around keeping school a priority but also enjoy and play sports. Division I has much more of a focus on sports than the others. The differences include Division I putting much more money towards sports, Division I also gives more sports scholarships, Division III tries to minimize academic and athletic conflicts, Division III has the largest number of schools then Division I then Division II. The similarities include that all divisions give out athletic scholarships and they all focus on academics. This information and more can all be found on the NCAA website.
